Hi Alan.
What I have to do, currently, in order to do what I want is create a hierarchy
of null objects and set keyframes the way I want. This works, but it is a bit
of a kludge. The reason is that when youset a keyframe for a particular chann-
nel in LW like x translation, it also sets a keyframe for every other channel
in the object at the same frame. Now suppose you want to do some complex xz
plane motion of an object, but you just want a straight linear move in y axis.
Now, you either have to make a null object and hierarchically seperate the
different channels or you have to hand tweak every keyframe for the channel
that you want linear. Also, suppose you want to rearrange the channel order
in an object because you want scaling first, the translations, then rotations.
Currently, the only way to do this is to create a null object hierarchy. I wThis
works okay if you are dealing with a small number of objects, but if you are
trying to do character animation, you could have many objects and thus many,
many null objects to seperate the channels out. With objects that can have
individually keyframed channels or objects where you can order the channels
any way you want this becomes much more practical. Just trying to accomplish
overlapping action or followthrough is much harder now. Later.
